7M1TWNの自己紹介

QRAはニシナといいます。

My QRA is Masa.

QTHは埼玉県の越谷市で、東京都心から約30km北に位置しています。越谷は、日光街道の日本橋から数えて、千住、草加に次ぐ3番目の宿場町です。最近では、日本最大級のショッピング・モールのレイクタウンのある街として有名でしょうか。

QTH is Koshigaya city in Saitama prefecture located about 30km (20 mile) north of central Tokyo. Koshigaya was the 3rd station of Nikkō Kaidō, one of the Gokaido (the Five Routes), from Nihombashi in Edo (now Tokyo). At present, Koshigaya might be famous for Lake Town, one of the largest shopping mall in Japan.

当局は、平成22年11月に、約20年ぶりにQRTから復帰しました。復帰以降、多くのカムバック・ハムの皆さんとQSOさせて頂きました。復活のきっかけは人それぞれでしょうが、当局の場合は、海外での電話でのやり取りがきっかけになりました。

In November 2010, I returned from QRT for the first time in about 20 years. I've made QSO with many comeback hams since I returned. Although the trigger of return would be different each other, in my case, the trigger was oversea communication by phone.

仕事でロンドンに住み始めたころ、住宅の契約は対面でしましたが、固定電話回線の契約は電話でしなくてはなりませんでした。BT（イギリスにおける日本のNTT相当の会社）に電話をして、オペレータに私の名前等を伝えました。すると、オペレータが「あなたの名前は、Mike Alfa Sierra ...」というのです。はじめは状況を理解できませんでした。しかし、しばらくして欧文通話表でスペルを確認していることに気がつきました。まさか、こんな状況でハムの知識が役立つとは思いませんでした。

When I began to have lived in London due to business, I made the contract of my residence by in-person meeting, however, I had to carry out contract of landline phone by phone. I called BT (British Telecom) and told my name etc. to an operator. Then, he said "Your name is Mike Alfa Sierra ...". I could not understand the situation in the beginning. However, I noticed that he was trying to confirm my name spelling by using phonetic code. I just never imagined the knowledge of ham helps me in such a situation.

その後、現地の事務職員に「イギリス人は皆、通話表を知っているのか？」と聞きましたら、彼女の答えは、電話のオペレータは訓練を受けているに違いないとのこと。ただ、一般人は、通話表の代わりによく知られた人名や地名を使うとも付け加えました。

Some time after that, I asked English office personnel "Do all British people know phonetic code?". Her answer was that operators of telephone must be trained to be able to use the code. In addition, she said that ordinary persons use the name of person or place which are known well instead of using the code.

帰国日前には、最終請求書への支払いに備え、日本の住所を電話で連絡しなくてはならなくなりました。今度は、こちらから通話表で綴りを伝えたので、とてもスムーズに手続が完了しました。音だけで「エム」と「エヌ」とを区別することは困難ですよね。

Before my homecoming day, I had to inform my Japanese home address by phone in order to pay for last bill. At that time, I used phonetic code, so that the procedure completed smoothly. It should be difficult to distinguish pronunciation of "M" and "N" by phone.

欧文通話表を利用したやり取りを通じて、またアマチュア無線をやろうと思うようになりました。そして、帰国早々に第3級アマチュア無線技士の国家試験を受験し、再開局にこぎ着けました。また、地元の無線クラブであるJARL越谷無線クラブへの入会もお許し頂け、クラブに所属することになりました。

Through such a communication using phonetic code, I came to think that I would operate ham radio again. As soon as I arrived at Japan, I took the examination of the amateur 3rd class radio operator, and the radio station license was reissued for me. Moreover, the local ham club, JARL Koshigaya Club, gave me permission to join in, so that I am belonging to the club.

QSO再開後、アマチュア無線を趣味として継続するために、周波数帯に制限のない資格が必要と思い、第2級アマチュア無線技士の資格を取得しました。

After restarting of QSO, I felt the necessity of the qualification that has no restriction in a frequency band in order to continue ham radio as a hobby. So I got the amateur 2nd class radio operator license.

復帰当初は、ハムをとりまく環境の変化に驚きましたが、今ではその変化にも慣れました。

At the beginning of my return, I was surprised at change of the circumstance of ham, however, I've gotten used to the change.

なかなかQSOの時間をとれないのですが、ハムライフを楽しんでいます。
